Drayton Village Hall |
|
Drayton seems like a sleepy little village nestled around a lovely church and village pub in the heart of the Somerset levels. You wouldn't imagine that much happens here to disturb the peace and tranquillity. The truth is that there's a lot going on from the regular Saturday market, to ancient traditions like wassailing and beating the bounds, numerous village groups who meet in the village hall and, the piece de resistance, the annual Street Fair that attracts 1000's of visitors. There's a great sense of community here.
Music is also something that binds people together irrespective of race, colour or creed so Drayton Events was started to bring a regular series of high quality musical events to the village and surrounding area. Formed by local residents, Dave and Helen Adams, Louise Lee and Jon Parkinson, Drayton Events will be ensuring that some of the best musicians in the UK will be performing in local venues for the benefit of the local community. The inaugural concert featured an illustrious duo - at the top of the professional tree, Pete Long (Clarinet and Sax) and James Pearson (Piano). They'll be returning on December 1st, 2015 with two other highly regarded musicians; Laurence Cottle and Ed Richardson. at The Langport Arms Hotel. This will be another night to savour. .
